"Oh Kaitlin, why won't you let me in?" He teased once more, now determined to leave it alone after that. He laughed, gently placing his arm around her shoulders in a friendly gesture, nothing more. As they reached the next set of stairs, he smiled a bit more to himself, very much enjoying his day.

"Dork isn't really my type," laughed the Finnigan girl, glancing over at Xavier and shaking her head. She nudged him in the side with her elbow and then continued down the staircase. It wasn't too far to the Great Hall but she knew that virtually any amount of time was enough for something to happen in the castle. Pure experience had proven that. "So then, how is your brother?" she asked to make conversation

"Alright, if you say so Katie" He laughed, then continued on to answer her question. "He's doing good, still trying to be the potions master here next year. I hope he is, I think Lily would enjoy that" He nodded to her, for most people knew how protective he was of his younger sister. She meant a lot to him also. "Anything new going on for you?"

"Ooohh...I might wind up failing potions and needing a tutor then," she said, pretending to swoon but failing miserably because she couldn't hold back a giggle. Kaitlin was decent with all of her subjects and she did pay attention in class but she practically jumped at the opportunity to joke with him. Not wanting to continue on with her silly little joke, she went on to say, "No, nothing particularly noteworthy going on in my life. My parents are still adamanat about me writing home every single day and I'm doing decently enough in all of my classes."

"He doesn't like the nice girls remember? He was a slytherin afterall..." He laughed, then gave her a fake pouty face. "I'm offended, you go for the ugly brother?" He laughed then nodded. "Decently enough? I wish I had your grades" He smirked, knowing his grades weren't terrible, just not as high as hers.

"Yes, but nice girls go for the bad boys, remember? Maybe he can teach me to be naughty," she giggled almost uncontrollably. It was the funniest of things to even think about being devious and cunning like the stereotypical Slytherins were but Kaitlin just had to say it. Besides that, she thought the pouting face that Xavier gave her was hilarious. Nodding, Katie said, "Yes, decently enough. You wish you had my grades and I wish I had top marks...but I suppose if I had them I'd be in Ravenclaw."

"And I wouldn't be able to hit on the cute younger girl" He bit his lip a bit, realizing he didn't stop. He shook it off, trying to think of something else to talk about. "They're all so stuck up though" He shrugged his shoulders, trying hard to ignore the idea of her being naughty.

Kaitlin laughed softly and shook her head. He could be so funny sometimes. It was probably a little mean of her to keep on about flirting with his brother and things of that sort so she finally decided to stop with that teasing. Instead, she opted to comment on his statement by replying, "Not all of them are stuck up prats. I'm sure most of them are...but not everyone."

"True.. You can't really say they're all prats... I mean they aren't slytherins" He laughed continuing down the stairs. "You'd fit in though, you're as smart as any of them" He shrugged his shoulders, trying not to make things more awkward.

"And they're not all just like you either, you prat," she said, sticking her tongue out at him and laughing a little more. Sure, there was a rivarly between Gryffindor and Slytherin and, more often than not, the Slytherins weren't always the nicest of people but that didn't mean they were all jerks. Grinning about her fitting in, she replied, "Oh you have no idea how well I'd fit in." Kaitlin couldn't help adding that part. She hadn't really meant to make such suggestions but it just slipped out.

"Is that a challenge young one?" He teased again, not letting her forget he was a year older, a year wiser. "You're gonna miss me next year. Nobody to help you when you're going crazy..." He pointed at his head, circling his finger, as if to show crazy. He may have been falling into 'dork' mentality, but he was ok with that.

"Young one? Young one?! Keep in mind that I'm only a year younger than you Mister Hunter," she scoffed, pushing him a little again. He might have been older than her but she wasn't going to let him think he was special because of it. Laughing lighlty, she went on to say, "Me? Miss you? Are we having another dream Xavier?" It was true, though, that she really would miss him...even if she teased that she wouldn't.

"Good, respecting your elders. You've learned well" He laughed, then shook his head. "Alright, if you wont miss me, I wont answer owls then" He knew it was an empty threat, and she probably did too, but he couldn't help but say it. He hadn't moved back closer, not wanting to make it awkward.

"Fine. Be like that. As if you'll get any owls anyway," said Kaitlin, rolling her eyes and laughing. He made it nearly impossible to keep from laughing full out. Their empty threats and bluffing was quite amusing even though they both knew that she'd miss him and he'd probably write even more than her mother did. Katie glanced at him out the corner of her eye but quickly returned to watching the pathway as they were nearing the Great Hall.

"Hmm... true... I'll have to bombard you then..." He laughed, then opened the door to the Great hall for her. "Again, Ladies first..." He nodded slowly, to show he wasn't joking. He thought for a second about shutting the door before she walked in, but decided to just be the nice guy.
